The Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) is a nine-month education cum training programme organized every year by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi under the sponsorship of the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India. The programme is designed keeping in view the training needs of middle and senior level officers of All-India and Central Services, and State Governments.

The APPPA is a postgraduate programme. It provides the participants with basic knowledge of social sciences, equips them with management skills and techniques, generates an awareness of the social, political and economic environment of administration; promotes learning through field studies and group efforts, encourages specialized study in electives areas chosen by the participants. With a view to making qualitative improvement in public service, the programme aims at equipping the participants to face the challenges of the changing domestic and international environment. It also aims at promoting and strengthening the leadership and interpersonal skill and sensitivity of participants to enable more responsive and responsible administration.

A Glimpse of LMS Features


As per the requirements of the Department of Personnel and Training, attendance in all lectures, seminars discussions, etc. is compulsory. In case of an emergency, the participant may seek prior permission from the Programme Director for his/her absence. Participants are expected to be present in the class before the start of each session.


Individual assessment will be done on the basis timely submission of Individual/ Group Presentation , Case Submission , Written Exam , MCQ ,Dissertation and Viva etc.


The course will commence from July 2,2018 converging to the last convocation on April 30,2019. Which will include Experimental Presentations, Rural and Urban field study, Foreign Study Tour, Co-curricular Activities, Non-credit Inputs, Dissertation and Viva Voice.


The assignment should be submitted in the given period of time as the aim of the programme is to enable participants to develop a broad perspective and synergy to contribute towards minimum government and maximum governance. It seeks to inculcate an attitude that augments efficiency and service orientation towards citizens. Timely submission is a must for the participants.

MCQ Exams

There would be an evaluation on the complete topic and assignments given to the participants, the evaluation will be taken into consideration as the final evaluated grade is generated and formed for the programme.

The participant would be notified of the progression of the programme and the justifications for every development of the register programme on the respective email addresses of the participants for the further progress and alerts.
